Osmo Door Oil is a blend of natural oils and waxes for use on all interior wooden doors.

Please note: Always check the manufacturers label on the door or with the door manufacturer before applying a door finish to confirm suitability. Some products may not be suitable for some types of door.

Preparation

Wooden surfaces to be treated with Osmo Door Oil should be clean, dry and frost-free (moisture content max. 18%).

For dark and extractive-rich hardwoods, e.g. Wenge, Merbau and Jatoba, we recommend using Osmo Wood Wax Finish Extra Thin (1101).

  1. Cean old microporous stains thoroughly
  2. Old paints and lacquers must be completely removed
  3. Sand surfaces carefully, beginning with coarse sandpaper (final sanding P120-150 grit)
  4. Before oiling the surface, remove any sanding dust with a broom or vacuum cleaner
  5. Fill small cracks, larger joints or holes in the wood with Osmo Interior Wood FillerOsmo Interior Gap Sealer or the Osmo Repair Kit
  6. If additional protection against blue stain, rot and insects is desired, pre-treat with Osmo WR Base Coat (4001) or Osmo Wood Protector (4006)

Application

Always apply a test coat to a spare surface or inconspicuous area to assess compatibility, colour and finish. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions on the tin at all times. Stir well before use.

  1. Apply Osmo Door Oil with an Osmo Soft Tip BrushOsmo Premium Microfibre Roller or a sponge
  2. Apply thinly and evenly, working in the direction of the wood grain, removing any excess
  3. Apply two thin coats of door oil for greatest protection
  4. If possible, apply to all sides of the door prior to installation

Please Note: Applying the product too generously and insufficient ventilation can lead to delays in drying time.

Cleaning Equipment

Clean tools after use with Osmo Brush Cleaner and Thinner (8000).

Finishing

Doors that have been treated with Osmo Door Oil can be buffed to lift the sheen. For additional shine, doors can be polished with a clear wax or polish if desired.

Aftercare

Cleaning

Light marks and day-to-day dirt can be cleaned using Osmo Cleaner. Stubborn stains, scuffs and marks can be cleaned with Osmo Wash and Care.

Maintenance

Clean doors to remove surface dust and dirt then apply a thin maintenance coat of Osmo Door Oil to restore the finish.

Repair

For dull patches and light surface scratches, doors can be restored with Osmo Liquid Wax Cleaner. For deeper scratches and stains, lightly sand the affected area and re-apply a thin coat of Osmo Door Oil.
