Choose the right wall

Select a wall that stands out and draws attention naturally, such as the one behind the bed in a bedroom or the wall facing the entryway in a living room. It should be a focal point of the room.

Select a colour scheme

Consider the overall colour scheme of the room and choose a colour that complements or contrasts with the existing palette.

Consider the mood and atmosphere you want to create. You can use colour theory to guide your selection—for example, warm colours (reds, oranges, yellows) create a cosy and energetic feel, while cool colours (blues, greens, purples) convey a calm and soothing ambience.

As a rule, darker colours pull a room inwards, and lighters colours can make a wall seem further away.

Painting two feature walls
